Production internships available for the 2016-17 season!

We’re looking for production interns for the 16/17 season. The ideal candidates are students or early-career professionals looking for hands-on experience and training. Both class credit (if the institution attended allows) and stipends may be available. We promise a fun, friendly, professional environment where people will not only be able to hone their current skill set but pick up new skills along the way from our team and make connections in the industry to help further advance their career. Former interns have successfully gone on to undergraduate and graduate programs, to professional stock companies, and have been promoted to the Jobsite Ensemble. Length of internship: now – May 15, 2017
Most hours will fall during the following tech weeks:
LIZZIE – Oct. 2 – 9, 2016
As You Like it – Jan. 2-9, 2017
A Skull in Connemara – Mar. 6-12, 2017
Gloucester Blue – May 8-15, 2017
 
Positions available:
Assistant to the Technical Director – works with the Technical Director and assists in most areas (scenic, lighting, props). This intern will assist with pre-build and load-ins of scenic elements, hang & focus of lighting, and acquiring of props for productions. Some experience with carpentry, lighting, and/or props is preferred.
 
Scenic Carpenter – works with the Technical Director on pre-build and load-in of scenic elements. May also be required to assist with basic painting. This applicant should have some experience in carpentry and have a working knowledge of power tools.
 
Scenic Artist – works with the Scenic Designer to paint scenic elements once loaded into the theater, prepares surfaces for paint treatments by carving/adding texture, color mixies and paints sets that range from realistic interiors/exteriors to the abstract. This applicant should have some previous painting experience.
Interns will work in both our offsite scene shop as well as both the Jaeb Theater and Shimberg Playhouse at the Straz Center. Please use the contact form on the bottom of this page to send a letter of interest.
