Jobsite fan Michael Kilgore — who has had a long and illustrious career in these parts from The Tampa Tribune to Straz Center to the Columbia Group — is a big-time music fan. It was no surprise then when he reached out to David Jenkins to offer some music recommendations for the house music.
Jenkins told Kilgore to have fun and send on anything he liked, and this playlist represents what was originally curated by him when he thought the structure of the show still followed the two-act, more sprawling plot seen at the Alliance. It covers preshow, intermission and walkout.
Our production is a much leaner 90-minute show with no intermission and the band playing folks out the door, so music director Jeremy Douglass fused this list with his own for the final 30-minutes of music piped in before the show starts.
Thanks for the contribution, Michael, this will get you in the mood!
Looking for more to listen to? We previously published songs from the concept album in the order they appear in this latest and greatest version of the show. Tunes sung by Taj Mahal, Elvis Costello, Roseanne Cash, Sheryl Crow and others. The only one missing is “A Song for Anna” which is immediately before “How Many Days” in our production — that song was added to the show after the concept album was created!
