Y’all ready for Ballyhoo?

I’m really excited about this season. Of course I am, right? It’s not like we’d pick a bunch of stuff we’re indifferent about! This is just always a great time of year, one where we can look back and celebrate our successes while looking forward with great anticipation of what’s to come. We’re also SO CLOSE to hopefully making an announcement about what our summer musical is next year. If it works out, I think you’ll all be very pleased. 🙂

American Theatre Wing Finalists

Did you hear the news? We’ve been selected as a finalist for the American Theatre Wing’s National Theatre Company award. 10 winners will be announced on Sep. 7, please keep your fingers crossed for us! This is a huge honor just to be one of the 40 finalists from across the country.

Don’t Miss Out

Season ticket sales are the best they’ve ever been for where we are, so making sure that you have yours is the best way to avoid getting shut out. We had more sell-outs last season that ever before, and it stinks getting turned away at the door. If you want the VIP treatment, sign up for the Rock Star Experience and get everything (and we mean everything) for one price, a portion of which is even tax-deductible.

If you’ve considered season tickets, if you believe in our work, I urge you to get in now before Ballyhoo opens. Call 813.229.7827. Treat yourself. Save money. Do good. If I can answer any questions or explain anything about the deal do not hesitate to reach out.

The Season’s About to Begin

The Last Night of Ballyhoo will be here in less than two weeks. This is a nostalgic and insightful comedy that will surely get you right in the feels. Actor Ned-Averill-Snell (who plays Adolph Freitag in the show) posted to his Facebook page “What with all that’s been happening in the world the last few months, it’s likely some of you have lost some faith in humanity. Starting two weeks from today, you can come to the Shimberg Playhouse and have it restored.” We agree wholeheartedly with Ned.

Ballyhoo is presented in part by the Tampa Jewish Community Center and Federation, who are hosting a private opening night on Thu., Sep. 4.

The Event of the Year

Don’t forget, our 2014 Gala is coming up, Oct. 11. We’re also looking for food & drink partners and silent auction items. Please drop us a line if you can help or have any questions.

On Deck

Vampire Lesbians of Sodom is up after that and will be a drag-tastic blood-sucking HOOT that I guarantee you’re not going to want to miss. Don’t let the title scare you off, this is a hi-LAR-ious over-the-top camp comedy from Charles Busch (Psycho Beach Party, The Divine Sister.)
