Race opens

What a fantastic opening weekend for RACE: energetic houses, sold out shows, standing ovations, a lively post-show talk — we couldn’t ask for much more!

We hated turning away people at the door on Saturday and Sunday who didn’t have tickets, which is why we always recommend advance purchases, or at least recommend you call ahead (813.229.7827) to check on availability before making the drive. You still have plenty of time to get on the horn in the next day or so and scoop up tickets for this weekend’s performances! We have shows Thu. – Sat. at 8 and Sun. at 4 this week.

Thanks once again to the Communication Research Alliance for the reviewer’s award that made our post-show panel possible as well as Abe Khan, Alisha Menzies and Roy Kaplan for their participation. We had about 40% of the audience stay for the talk, and it was truly one of the best post-show talks I’ve ever been a part of. We hope to do a lot more community engagement like this, it’s an important part of what Jobsite wants to be. Did you stay for the talk? Have any feedback? Whether it’s something you thought we did right or something you thought we could improve, your words are always welcome.

You can use that same address if you’ve seen the show and would like to share your thoughts on the production. We might share your opinions online in an effort to help others make an informed decision!

Coming to the theater this weekend? Don’t forget to sign up for 2012-13 season tickets while you are here. Sign up at the theater and get something nifty for free! Season tickets are currently on sale for the Early Bird rate of 30% off!

We’re also excited to host Ned Averill-Snell (who plays Charles in RACE) and his one-person show Little Tunes May 19-21. Sweet, funny, and sometimes sung, Little Tunes is a comic memoir of growing up in an eccentric ’70s family, misadventures in a musical education, and finding out what happens after a dream dissolves. This show is FREE for season ticket holders, just $1 with a RACE ticket stub and $7 general admission at the door.

Hope to see you all soon at the theater!
