Fanni Green

Fanni Green is a faculty member of the School of Theatre and Dance at the University of South Florida, Tampa campus. She teaches acting, voice/speech/dialects, audition workshop as well as directs for the department. She has taught on the faculties of Julliard Drama School, Yale School of Drama and The Actor’s Center NYC. Ms. Green, a USF alumna and native of St. Petersburg, joined the School of Theatre and Dance in 1997. For USF she has directed Stories the Ladies Told, The Trojan Women, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf, Crumbs from the Table of Joy and What the Heart Remembers: The Women and Children of Darfur. She was last seen on USF’s stage in the role of Sophia in Moon on a Rainbow Shawl. Prior to coming to USF Ms. Green worked as a professional actress and playwright.

Her acting credits include: Broadway – Mule Bone (with Taj Mahal); Off Broadway/Regional – Ayssinia and Once On This Island (Goodspeed Opera House, Arena Stage), Henry IV, Henry VI, Antony and Cleopatra (with Vanessa Redgrave), Everybody’s Rub (The Public Theater); Television – Law and Order, NYPD Blue, Third Watch; Film – The Object of My Affection, Drunks, Women Under the Bridge, Big, Joe’s Apartment, Citizen Cohn. She has worked with theater and film artists George C. Wolfe, Tony Kushner, Tom Han, James Woods, Dianne Wiest, Faye Dunaway and Jennifer Anniston. Her plays have been commissioned and workshopped at the NY Theatre Workshop, Playwrights Horizon and Ensemble Studio Theatre. She has done voiceover work for WMNF as well as has been heard in commercials and industrials for Blue Cross Blue Shield, Heart of Tampa Bay, the US Postal Service, US Healthcare and Liberty Mutual. Ms. Green is married to Gary Lemons – they have three children and two grandchildren.
