Jobsite's 2008 – 2009 Season
Our 10 Year Anniversary
Jobsite Theater, resident theater company at TBPAC and recipient of four 2007 Creative Loafing Best of the Bay Critic's Picks Awards including Best Theater Company, is proud to announce their 2008-2009 season, marking 10 years of bringing quality innovative theater to Tampa Bay.
Jobsite has grown from very humble roots at Ybor City’s Silver Meteor Gallery, where they produced their first shows in 1998 for a handful of people nightly, to now serving as the resident theater company for the largest performing arts center in the southeast, second in the nation to only the Kennedy Center. Their audience has grown anywhere from 5% to 53% annually without ever taking a single step back at the box office.
Jobsite productions consistently rank high in annual lists, like those made by Creative Loafing, and the unique nature of their programming draws an unmatched share of the elusive 18-35 year old demographic. Jobsite’s 2006-07 season attracted nearly 7,500 patrons overall. To cap off an already highly successful 2007, the Downtown Tampa Partnership recognized Jobsite’s contributions to making Downtown a vibrant area with an Urban Excellence Award nomination.
The Line Up
This 10th anniversary season features: three area premieres, including a 2006 Pulitzer Prize winner, the 2007 Laurence Olivier Award winner for Best New Play and a return to one of Jobsite’s most celebrated authors, Martin McDonagh; one world premiere rock musical by a former Tampa rock frontman based on a play by Shakespeare; one of the most prominent works by Mark Twain Prize and Emmy Award winning writer Steve Martin; and a remount of Jobsite’s first true box office hit by award-winning horror novelist Clive Barker.
